About the Role:

  • Provide comprehensive counselling services focusing on addiction-related issues, including alcohol, drugs, and gambling, with a primary goal of achieving positive outcomes for clients.
  • Actively respond to referrals from individuals, families, and community agencies, ensuring timely and effective support is provided to those in need.
  • Utilize advanced communication skills such as active listening, observation, and clarification to empower clients and their families to make informed decisions and develop actionable plans.
  • Collaboratively set realistic and achievable goals with clients, ensuring clear assessment and ongoing progress monitoring to support their journey towards recovery and well-being.
  • Maintain meticulous and up-to-date records of client interactions, including thorough reports and assessments, in compliance with organizational standards and contractual obligations. Additionally, demonstrate proficiency in utilizing essential software tools and commit to continuous professional development to stay abreast of the latest advancements in the addiction and AOD sector.

What You Need to Apply for this Role:

  • Bachelor’s degree or experiential equivalent, including related tertiary qualification in addiction counselling.
  • Te Reo Proficiency: Beginner, Intermediate.
  • Drug and Alcohol Practitioners’ Association Aotearoa New Zealand (DAPAANZ) Registered.
  • At least 6 months post-tertiary qualification experience in a related field preferred.
  • Full and clean Driver’s Licence.
  • Experience in Medtech (for drug and alcohol counsellors) Noted preferred.
  • Working knowledge of office technology and ideally Office 365.
